Well, mid Summer is upon us already and that means members of The Neale Heritage & Development Committee are busy planning and implementing projects. As always, we are midway through the County Litter League competition, sent our application in for Tidy Towns Competition and more than likely already have been judged, flowers have been planted and lots of other maintanance tasks completed. Over the next week, we will be updating the look and feel of our website so please ensurte to keep checking back with us. The Neale lost the July and August rounds of the litter league leaving the Village in 4th position behind Ballyglass, Aughagower and Bonniconlon. To guarantee reaching the semi finals, The Neale will have to beat Belcarra the September 1st half round from 3rd September to 12th September. The judges gave a score of 87 in the August round, deducting marks for broken glass on a footpath across from Gibbons pub, 4 pieces of rubbish at Fr John O Malley Park and 6 pieces of rubbish on the school road. They commended The Neale on looking so well on the day. In the July round, The Neale scored 91 marks with 2 marks lost at the bottle bank and 7 marks lost on the school road.

The Neale received 93 points in May but lost their match against Aughagower so were given 1 point in the league putting us on 4 points and leaving us joint 4th in the table. The Neale were up against Geesala in the June round of the competition. The Neale was given 94 points out of 100 which was good enough to win this round. The Neale are still in joint 4th but move to 7 points in the competition. The Neale is up against Bonniconlon in the next round . Judging is any time during July. Ballyglass and Aughagower lead on 9 points.

The Neale won there first round match of the County Litter League with a score of 92/100. The Neale will be against Aughagower in the next round who also got of to a winning start. Judging takes place from now until 31st May. In the first round match rubbish was spotted between Ballinrobe road speed limit and the bottle bank at Mellottes. From the Galway road to the speed limit on the Galway road there was 3 pieces of rubbish found. The Kilmaine road was litter free. For anyone who wants to help out, there is litter patrols every Monday evening at 7pm and Saturday mornings from 11am.

Cleaning and tidying up of the Neale village is well under way. Litter picking, grass cutting and weed spraying are amongst the daily chores required to be completed to have the village looking well. All residents are asked to help out by doing what ever they can over the not few weeks.
